This book presents her first attempts with the transparency of images, her experiments with tracing paper, and the materiality of the compositions. She photographed these prints using slide film and digital cameras on a backlit table, revealing the ink’s contact with the paper, the smudges, the imperfections, and the glue marks. It is, therefore, also a book about the genesis of the “Altinha” series.
The book features a central essay by Marly Porto, curator of the Fonds Brésilien de Photographie Contemporaine collection at the Bibliothèque nationale de France (BnF).
*Altinha* is a true photo book that takes advantage of the transparency of thin paper to reproduce the artist’s formal research.
